Assigning Resources to a Specific Task

Hi All, I am wondering if it is possible to assign system resources to a specific task. The example that spawned this is that I am trying to extract a very large compressed file which is taking quite a while, and I'm not even touching my available system power (my rig has an i7 920, 12 gb of DDR3, and 3 750 gb SATA2 hdd's in a raid 5 array). Would it be possible to speed up the extract by allocating more processor and ram? I'm running Windows 7 RC build 7100. Any ideas anyone?

I believe u can assign priority..like goto task manager, right click on the running task, select set priority and change it to hi. I am nt sure if it works, but did tis some time ago. Give it a shot..

I tried that, but it didn't seem to make much of a difference. I believe what that does is just to put the task ahead of any others, not to actually allocate more resources to the task. Thanks though.
