When I choose to put the computer in Standby mode from the “Turn Off Computer” window the computer shuts down instead, and then when I start it up it goes into Standby mode. If that’s followed by a Force Restart the computer starts up properly.
Is it a hardware issue or a software issue?
Everything seems to be fine in the Power Options control panel.

Hi, I really need some help, and soon
I was trying to get my speaker system to work, and I flipped the switch on the power strip that my computer is plugged into. The computer shut down, and when I turned it back on, the login screen was different. It was the normal blue one before, with the users displayed so you can click on one and enter your password, but now it is a box, and you have to type in the username AND password!!! Someone help me, My mom is gonna be soooo mad at me...

Ok the first issue-it really does sound like a settings problem. You can opt to have that function go into standby or whatever, so I think you've changed something somewhere.

The loggin issue-I'm not sure here. Sounds like a file was damaged when it crashed. Can you get into it at all?

For the first issue, I can't really say. Are you sure it's going into Shut-Down mode? Have you tried pressing the "Wake Up" key on your keyboard? A few keyboards don't have this key, due to which Standby becomes Shut Down.
