What's Going On ?

Are there any free firewalls out there that are relatively good. I think my laptop is protected once I am on the workplace network but what about when I am at home or elsewhere, I really don't know how it works, apart from the fact that they protect you.

ZoneAlarm is one of the best free firewalls I have ever used.
