Default Shut down or sleep?

After you're finished using your computer do you typically shut it down or use the sleep option? What about overnight? Shut down or sleep?

You should always shut it down for overnight. Today's processors and hard drives are not supposed to be left on all the time and they will wear out faster if you leave them on all the time. During the day, I shut mine down if I'm going to be away for at least an hour. I've heard too many people having problems with waking the PC back up to bother with the sleep option.

Yes sleep is problematic for some. If I am honest I don't do either-until I had problems with the machine over heating I just left it running 24/7.

I never leave my laptop on. When I am done using it for the day I always shut it down completely. I have left my PC on but I was only taking about a two hour break at the time so it wasn't a big deal.

I've never left my computer on overnight. The cost of running it all night, to me, would be way to much. When I am done doing what I need to, I take the time and shut the system down all the way.

The general consensus is to shut it down overnight. Good to know. I typically do, but there have been ocassions where I've left it on sleep overnight. This usually happens if I don't end up using the computer again that evening like I have planned. And you're right it's probably very cost effective shutting it down.

I've accidentally left it on sleep overnight, and I always regret it: the computer runs slower when I open it up and it starts up again, and it takes forever for it to load up enough to hit "restart." I usually shut it down; my laptop only sleeps if I'm leaving the house for a quick errand and coming right back to work.

Oh. I didn't know that. I leave mine on the 'hibernate' option, which is technically shut down, but it's so much quicker to get it running again than starting it up again from being completely shut down.

Shut it down especially if u r using a laptop. You can save your battery health and system performance if you shut it down at nte whn u go for sleeping.
