Default ME

You know until looking at this forum and all the years we have been through with windows, I never really noticed that I never once used ME. Can anyone tell me some stories if they have, how was it, whats the good that came from it and the bad?

The experience I had with Windows ME has been largely negative, and I have yet to come across a single person who actually liked ME over other Windows versions.

Crashes, freezes, many compatibility problems were just a few of Windows ME's numerous faults.

As unpopular as Windows Vista is with some Windows users right now, ME was still worse.

I agree completely on ME!! What a piece of junk!! I think it was out on the market less than any other Windows system. I saw the blue screen of death several times each and every time I logged into windows. I was really happy to see it go.

Oh yes. The famous ME that was named ME instead of 2000 because of the big computer scare about all of the clocks, etc. I was stuck using this for a couple of months at a previous job until they decided it was making the entire company counter-productive.

My husband, who really doesn't know much at all about computers, recently bought a computer with ME on it off ebay. I believe between the cost and the shipping he paid about $30 total, so it was a great deal. And he considers it a toy in many ways. He isn't very happy with it, and he would much prefer it had XP on it. Its a fairly nice computer in the sense that it is clean and looks brand-new, inside and out. But he does complain about it crashing quite often. It came with a very low RAM (can't remember just what) but I took out 2 250 RAM boards from an old computer that isn't working right and put them in and it has speeded it up alot. Very little software is compatible with it though, even some of the old stuff we have sitting around in drawers. We are probably going to upgrade it to XP at some point, but for now he is using it as is.

I recall using it for a short period of time and I didn't have a good experience either. It was being used at a workplace and they changed it after a while.

An old friend of mine had actually beta tested for Windows ME, and he told me how much he liked it at the time. My guesses are that he thought all the issues would be worked out by the time ME was released to stores, but I guess we see how well that had worked out. After the release though, he changed his tune rather quickly.

Well, we got ME fairly soon after it came out. It was just dire, and we went back to 98 SE and stuck with that for a very long time, until XP was stable. It was a joke of an OS.

ME was the absolute worst system that Microsoft has ever put out. Thank goodness it was short-lived. It came in one computer that I had been given and within the first week I had taken it out and put in an older version. Be glad that you missed it...lol.
