Default Do you keep an eye open for Service Pack Releases?

I am always keeping an eye open for new service pack releases as they seem to always help my computer run a bit more efficiently. I may pass up a routine update but won't ever pass up a service pack release.

Anyone else like to stay current this way?

Yes, I definitely try to keep up to date with service pack releases. With hackers tryin so hard to exploit the various vulnerabilities of the OS, it is very imporant to stay patched.

Yep, me too. I usually pass the regular updates too (mostly because I often have stuff open and they require a reboot), but I don't pass of the service packs. Especially since now I am running an older version of windows (now that vista is out... I'm still happy with xp).

Service pack updates are essential to do as soon as possible if you ask me.

For everything else you could possibly put off for a while, service packs are important to update when they are first released.

It's good to see that Microsoft is still offering support for Windows XP, since that's what i'm using currently.

I'm using XP as well and hope they keep the support for a while. I am in no hurry (as in not interested) to upgrade to Vista. Thanks for the confirmation of the importance of the SP and getting them installed. Security is a big issue with me at home as I keep a lot of business stuff on it so I try to keep things tight.

Default Updates

Oh yes, I certainly keep an eye out for any service pack updates. Also, I generally try to install all updates unless its for something that I do not want or use. I agree though that I tend to have everything open when it wants to update which has probably caused me to miss a few.

I have one old computer here and ended up putting SP3 on it, reboot then you will never guess what happened?!

MB went away, like grew legs, got up and walked away. It was a huge pain to fix and was driving me nuts for a while before I got it working again. So much for quick updates before you end your evening, huh?

I haven't checked yet (really haven't even thought about it!) but does vista have a service pack? If they do, should I get one?

I normally watch for all the updates, and just pray they don't reuire a reboot.I ended up with one this morning which was random and between that and the routine virus scan I thought about taking a nap a couple times it was taking so long.

I used to always update with the SP when it asked me to, but I have been behind in doing so for a while. This is a good reminder to get it done routinely.
I agree and hope with the other XP'ers here that MS continues to offer support for XP in the way of service pack updates.
