As most of you should already know, Firefox is based off the source code for the original Mozilla browser. What some of you may not know is that the Mozilla browser in turn is based off Netscape sourcecode, and has been ever since the birth of Mozilla in the 1990's. Even with Netscape apparently being discontinued, it's funny to think about how it's sourcecode helped build what is one of the most popular browsers currently on the market. Funny how things work sometimes, right?

I was aware of it being based, originally, off Netscape. I wonder how much of Netscape still exists in Firefox. Ah, to stand on the shoulders of giants.... sometimes makes you tall enough to be the most awesome browser available.

I never really used Netscape so I hadn't noticed the similarities. That's cool that it stems from there, though. I've heard a lot of good things about Netscape so it must have made a good base. There has been a lot of changes since then though so I can't imagine there is too much the same.
