after clearing the harddrive and re intalling xp from the cds that came with it i can not get online...it worked before...now when i click on the networking in the control panel it comes up blank....i cant remember what i clicked on but i got no active network adapter screen popped up....the machine is an older emachine and the warrenty is up....after days of this im pretty tweeked out...can anyone help??????

Your windows XP "internet" tray icon is located in the right hand side of the of taskbar, and looks like a small computer screens, right click it, and hit properties.
