I am still learning the new version of word but sometimes I have issues. Besides regular geeky places like this are there any maybe ebooks I could download to simplify some things?

There are plenty of online guides for such software. There are also training discs and books, many of which can be bought slightly used online for a fraction of the cost and re very thorough.
