Default Whither goes the Palm platform?

I have always been a huge fan of the Palm/Treo PDA/phones and I thought that their adoption of Windows Mobile would have injected some life in the platform. It seems that they have run out of steam and left everything up to RIM and Apple.

The Palm platform was certainly a big deal but it is long in the tooth today and showing its age. But as prevalent as the Blackberries and iPhones are, there are quite a few other major players out there like HTC, Nokia and Samsung.

There was an announcement somewhere recently that Palm might be planning to launch a new line of smartphones at CES in January. I hope this will ignite their fuse again because I really liked their PDAs.
