Default FireFox Version 3

I am running the beta version of 3, and loving the changes. The most noticable thing is the lack of memory hogging compared to the last. Other than that, mostly the changes are cosmestic.

Anyone else running it?

Which version of the beta? Beta 5 (the pre-release version) came out without me noticing until yesterday. I adore Beta 3 though and am getting used to the 5th beta. Once the rest of my favorite add-ons get updated I'll be happy as a clam.

I'm still running version 2 of Firefox. Takes less memory, you say? That'd be great, I have issues with bog down when I run a bunch of programs, so it'd help to trim where I can.

I am still running the latest version of Firefox 2, since I would rather wait for Firefox 3 to be finalized before I upgrade.

The fact that Firefox 3 is supposed to be less of a memory hog does sound good to me though.

Can anyone tell me how stable the latest beta is, and would you suggest I upgraded now or to wait?

I have the pre-release candidate, 3.5 and it is very stable. Only been running it two days but no crashes in that time, few known issues and it's doing fine.

I see no reason to wait, but then I took it as soon as the first beta was out.

AlfaBetiSpageti: Thank you for the quick reply and details, and I may just go ahead and upgrade now.

Do you know if it would allow me to keep Firefox 2 installed as well without issue, so I could switch between them both when/if I needed to?

The reason I ask is I think you could do that with Firefox 1, but I may just be remembering it wrong.

Default Yes, you can

I upgraded to 3 a few weeks ago. I kept both versions until I knew that I wouldn't be having issues with 3 vs. Vista. I used to get occasional errors where Firefox would shut down for no apparent reason but I haven't had that issue at all since upgrading to 3.

TechGuy, yes you can do this but only IF-you install version three to a separate folder. If you install it to the same folder as two there is a known risk that it could make two unstable. So just put it somewhere else.

Y'all have convinced me to give it a go. I've been having a lot of freezes with FF2 lately due to too little virtual memory and FF being such a hog. I'll download it tonight!

I'm going to have to go home and look. I know that I've seen quite a few updates in recent weeks so I may be on the latest. I do think it is running a lot smoother than before and really enjoy the features. One thing I need to do though is put a print icon in the view so I can avoid using Ctrl-P.
