I have a wireless internet connection using a Linksys router connected to a modem.

I would like to be able to access the files on my Windows XP desktop from my Windows Vista laptop.

The XP uses a Linksys wireless adapter just a small thing that fits in the palm of your hand. The Vista has built in wireless.

I created a computer to computer network and it shows up on both computers. It shows as being automatic but it doesn't connect when I try to connect.

I'm not sure how to proceed from here or even where to look to find the files on the other computer if I have a successful connection. Does a successful connection show up in My Network Places? My Computer?

Can I do both at once meaning can I connect to the other computer and the internet connection at the same time?

What do I do to access the computer? I have messed around some with file sharing but don't want to get too carried away until I know what I'm doing.

I do have anti-virus, zone alarm, Windows firewall running and I know there are likely issues with these in this situation.
