Last week Thursday I signed into yahoo and was busy doing something else, not on the internet. I noticed that it kept signing me out and in, eventually I noticed that a window opened and tabs just kept opening as fast as I could close them, even when I disconnected from the internet it continued. I shut down my computer and then ran a virus check but nothing showed up. Is this a normal occurrence?

This isn't something that has happened to me before. Do you have the latest version of Yahoo Messenger? You may want to check your preferences out to see if there is a setting in there that may be causing this. I know when I first started using the new version it opened a window or two but I was able to stop it in preferences.

I have the latest version of Yahoo installed, and I have not had any problems with it to date.
The only thing that happens is that little news window thing showing up at times. Other than that, things have been smooth sailing with no crazy popups or anything. The latest Yahoo seems to run more efficiently than ever. |

The new window thing is the equivalent of the AOL Today from AIM. You can turn it off thankfully. The multiple windows sounds like a bug in the program thats not letting it realize it already opened the window or a virus thats doing so. I'd download some spyware/malware program and scan again, the anti-virus may not have picked it up.

My yahoo messenger will log me off and on when I am having internet connection issues, which seems to happen every time it rains heavily lately.
But its not quick and I have never had the pop up boxes like you described.

Sometimes things just don't load properly into memory and there ends up being some kind of loop. A reboot, and if nothing shows on virus or spyware/adware programs I wouldn't worry. If it happens again, consider Hijack This!
