I've been trying to find a nice lite but attractive and easy to use multi-messenger o be able to be connected but not kill my resources. I used Trillian back when it came out and downloaded it again last weekend. Its still a bit unwieldy and I find it annoying to only have colored balls to separate out contacts from four different messengers. Anyone have customization tips to make Trillian more user friendly?

While I love Trillian for the most part, it has more than a few issues that really bug me. Whenever I use the MSN portion for instance, it seems to have a lot of compatibility issues and some bugs as well. There are times when my buddies can't see me on when i'm on, or the other way around. Despite these problems, I still love Trillian's all-in-one approach.

There are different skins you can choose that might make it a little easier on the eye. You can also pick and choose certain images from one skin and switch them out with another.

But really there's nothing that you can do to deal with the fact that there is no way to separate the different services. You can have symbols instead of balls though.

I've never heard of it until now and will look into it. I only use Yahoo and MSN so I really don't have that much of an issue running both. I'm so used to it that I'm not sure Trillian would do anything but confuse me! LOL

Trillian is pretty similar to the other messengers. The only one that really it is different to is ICQ, because that requires the button press rather than hitting enter to enter your text. Certainly not hard to get used to.

I haven't had a bug issue since the last time I downloaded it in college sometime. I don't normally play with the skins on such things as they can be a memory kill and cause rendering issues at times depending on how well the changes are coded. I don't always show my acctive status online so thats not much of an issue with me either.
