Most modern processors are now 64bit architecture, 64bit versions of windows are much more powerful than 32bit and also can manage more memory (32-bit computers can only support 4GB of memory, while 64-bit can support up to 128GB).

If you want to try out 64bit Windows Vista, you can check if you have a compatible retail copy of Windows, Microsoft's definition is :

Windows Vista Ultimate already comes with both a 32bit disk and a 64bit disk so do not require any additional order.

You can order replacement media or an additional 64bit disk for your Windows Vista direct from Microsoft from here (at the bottom of the page).

You can also order 32bit CD media from the same place if, for some bizarre reason, you want to use Vista but don't have a DVD drive.
